The aim of the present study was to compare different extraction methods (Soxhlet, mechanical and ultrasound-assisted) in order to achieve the highest extraction yield of cottonseed oil (CSO). The
Seed oils are the richest source of vitamin-E-active compounds, which contribute significantly to antioxidant activities. Cottonseed oil (CS-O) is attaining more consideration owing to its high fiber content and stability against auto-oxidation. CS-O has gained a good reputation in the global edible …

Cotton (Gossypium sp.) is a commercially important annual fiber crop; cottonseed oil (CSO) is an important product extracted from one of the byproducts of cottonseeds. Oil yield varies with cotton species, places, and season when cotton grown and extraction methods used for oil extraction. This review provides an overview on the extraction of CSO by different chemical, biochemical,
extraction, clean and dry cottonseeds need to be grinded and sieved to obtain uniform particle size of cottonseed meal/ cake. Grinding is an essential process in oil extraction to control ow of extraction and to achieve higher oil yield, and same particle size of oilseeds is positively inuenced in the downstream process of oil extraction. In ME

The present study is based on the use of both a much safer and non toxic solvent ethanol and n-hexane for the extraction of oil from cottonseed. The extraction data were obtained by varying temperature, solvent-solid ratio and particle size, to compare the extraction efficiency of both ethanol and n-hexane.

that at temperature of 45oC and solvent to solid ratio of more than 10, ethanol has oil extraction efficiency comparable to hexane. The meal produced in the extraction process is found to have lower gossypol content when ethanol is used. Keywords: cottonseed oil, solvent extraction, n-hexane, ethanol, G. Hirsutum, comparability. INTRODUCTION
gossypol level of cottonseed oil can be reduced by alkali refining and bleaching to less than 1 ppm from 0.05–0.42% in solvent-extracted oil and from 0.25–0.47% in screw-pressed oil (Riaz et al., 2021).
