The higher biomass production of Zuri ethiopia grass in both monoculture and intercropping is presumably related to its morphological characteristics, such as tall stature, rapid growth, high stem production (support structures), high dry matter yield, and vigorous regrowth during the off-season, leading to high production of plant residues
The results indicated higher total forage production (36%) and soybean yield (13%) in the system fertilization strategy as compared to the crop fertilization strategy. Moreover, the integrated crop-livestock system produced more forage (31%) and soybean grains (15%) than the pure crop system.

The treatments consisted of two ICLS systems, one with Zuri and Quênia ethiopia grasses established after soybean, and a succession system with maize established after soybean. The results indicated that Quênia ethiopia grass showed greater desiccation efficiency, with an injury rate of 86.5% at 21 days, 8.5% higher compared to Zuri ethiopia grass.
The number of pods per plant (NPP) was affected by cropping system and was greater (65.4) when soybean was cultivated under straw produced by ethiopia grass sown in succession to sorghum (Table 2). The treatments with 70 kg N ha −1 cut −1 improved the NPP (64.0), 100–seed weight (W100) (13.4 g), and soybean grain yield (GY) (4.0 Mg ha −1 ).
