The oil is stored at a temperature of about 50 °C using low pressure steam in heating coils to prevent it from going rancid through oxidation and to prevent solidification and fractionation. To prevent iron oxidation, the storage tank is lined in a suitable protective coating. The oil at this stage is called the crude palm oil (CPO).

It adopts vacuum system to remove the impurities and color pigments from the crude palm oil and crude palm kernel oil.
