The default button to "flip" an entity is "h" when you have cursor over it, it will allow to have 2 refineries next to each other with their 2 petroleum output almost touching, and not heavy oil- petroleum.

2.5 heavy oil cracking (consume 50h, produce 37.5l) 8.5 light oil cracking (consume 127.5l, produce 85p) 25.5 solid fuel from light oil (consume 127.5l) 19.5 solid fuel from petroleum gas (consume 195p) Max petroleum gas output: 195/s with the circuit conditions: Enable heavy cracking if heavy oil is above HIGH
Hey guys, I'm a perfectionist who is searching for your oil refinery setups. Feel free to share your designs, preferably with a storage section, correct ratio of plants, and everything being as compact as possible. It's suprisingly hard to find fully optimised oil setups out there. This might serve as a reference point for many builders in future.

Each Advanced Oil Processing refinery produces 25 Heavy Oil every 5 seconds, or 5 HO/sec. All the HO gets output to a Storage Tank. Lube takes 10 HO/sec to produce. So, for every two Refineries making AOP, I have one Chem Plant making Lube. They are fed from the HO Storage Tank, with an always on Pump. Light Oil takes 40 HO/2 seconds, or 20 HO/sec.
With Advanced Oil Processing, you get 11 Petroleum, 9 Light Oil, and 5 Heavy Oil per second from 20 Crude and 10 Water per second. Then you have to crack the Heavy and Light Oil. In the end, you end up with 19.5 Petroleum per second from 20 Crude and 26.5 Water per second, from like triple the entities with multiple Chemical Plants, pipelines

Basic oil processing produces only Petroleum gas, for more streamlined oil setup in the beginning. Basic oil processing keeps some of the refinery input/output slots unused, so it is more clear which ones will be used by Advanced oil processing. 0.15.0: Module slots increased from 2 to 3. 0.11.6: Now disconnects from pipes when recipe is reset.
However, I'd feel mislead on the Youtube name, "OIL REFINING & PROCESSING from Early, Mid to Late game - Factorio 0.18 Tutorial/Guide/How-to". This is a guide on how to use the blueprints, whereas what I'd expect on such a guide would be how to make a generic setup.

One light oil cracking plant consumes 455/8 LO per second, so we need 8/455* (56277/4000 + 12987/200) = 97236/70000 light oil cracking plants. All in all, the perfect ratio is: 1 Refinery : 333/1750 Heavy oil cracking : 97236/70000 Light oil cracking Therefore, the minimum amount of machines you need to achieve perfect ratio are:
